About us

RUI is a men’s Hall of Residence, inaugurated on 24 April 1960. It is the first of Rui Foundation’s International Halls of Residence, from which the Foundation takes its name. It is a College of Merit officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), offering a welcoming and family-like environment.

Living at RUI means becoming part of a close-knit community that shares study and leisure moments, supported by an attentive direction team and a staff that ensures careful management and full board service. Each student follows a personalized educational program, including cultural activities, soft-skill development, meetings with professionals, and initiatives to strengthen his competencies.

The Hall of Residence represents a forward-looking experience: a place to grow, nurture one’s talents, and lay solid foundations for an adult life in service of the common good.

Founded in Rome on May 6th, 1959 and recognized as an institution with a legal decree n. 932 by the President of the Italian Republic on September 16th, 1959, RUI Foundation promotes its educational work autonomously, in collaboration with governments and national and international bodies, such as the Council of Europe and the European Commission. Rui Foundation is member of the CCUM Conference of University Colleges of Merit, which is legally recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.

Like all RUI Foundation residences, RUI also draws inspiration from the teachings of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church.

The spirit of Opus Dei manifests itself in the life at the Residence, promoting an atmosphere of coexistence with others based on respect and love for freedom, solidarity, optimism; activities revolving around spiritual formation and Christian doctrine are offered to students, who can freely choose whether to participate.
